I have been hosting a number a webinars lately and found an amazing free webinar service (albeit ad-supported but free none the less) called anymeeting.com. I’m sure most of you recognize gotomymeeting and gotomywebinar as the industry standard but at $99/month that may be a little steep for most startups. Heck, that’s a little steep for an established business. Often times startups are performing webinars for free to get exposure marketing a product or service anyway. The ad-supported business model works well for entrepreneurs. You do have the option of going ad-free as your business grows at $69/month for a comparable ad-free plan.
If you are offering premium content or educational material, Anymeeting allows you to sell tickets for access with a 10% service fee that is integrated into Paypal. You will also have the ability to record your webinar for further sales and syndication after the live webinar. I found the learning curve for Anymeeting is pretty straightforward.
One feature I particularly liked was the screen sharing ability which can be isolated to just one program like Powerpoint. This allows me to do a number of things off screen without my audience being aware. You can use your webcam and microphone or send a conference call number (my preference) to your audience to use in tandem with the screen sharing. Particpants have the ability to ask questions through the sidebar in the form of an IM (instant message) that is helpful or can also unmute their voice and ask a question.
